NELSON JOINS GOLDWATER TAPLIN: Former U.S. Senator Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) “is joining insurance consultancy Goldwater Taplin as its chairman, and the firm will now be known as Nelson Taplin Goldwater,” POLITICO’s Zachary Warmbrodt reports. “Nelson left the Senate in 2013. Until early last year he served as CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. In an interview, Nelson said he would expand his new employer’s reach beyond state-based issues to federal and international matters. He’ll work from Omaha and Washington.”
