NTG Announces Changes in Executive Leadership and Growing Opportunities in Nation’s Capital
Barry Goldwater, Jr. Named Chairman
(West Palm Beach, FL) – Former Nebraska Governor and United States Senator Ben Nelson will be stepping down as Chairman of Nelson Taplin Goldwater (NTG) to lead Florida-based health and life insurance agency Insurance Care Direct (ICD) as Chief Executive Officer.
“Ben has provided invaluable leadership and expertise as Chairman of our firm, serving as a trusted advisor to our clients, and as a respected mentor and beloved friend to his colleagues,” said Barry Goldwater, Jr., newly named Chairman of Nelson Taplin Goldwater. “It’s been a great privilege to have Ben serve as our Chairman, and we wish him continued success in his new role.”
Prior to serving as chairman of NTG, Senator Nelson served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) from 2013-2016. He was selected based on his unique combination of executive, legislative and regulatory experience. From 2001-2013, Senator Nelson served two-terms representing the State of Nebraska in the U.S. Senate. Earlier in his career, Senator Nelson was Governor of Nebraska. In 1994, he became the first Nebraska Governor to be elected to a second term in two decades.
“Ben’s experience as a Governor, a United States Senator, and as the CEO of the NAIC makes him uniquely qualified for his new leadership role,” said Norman Taplin, CEO of Nelson Taplin Goldwater. “There are few people in our industry with the depth and breadth of experience, strategic insights, and key relationships that Ben brings to the table. ICD made a wise choice in selecting him to serve as their CEO.”
Goldwater will oversee NTG’s continued expansion into all 50 jurisdictions, and will lead a new, national health insurance coalition to be launched this summer.
As of June 1, 2019, the consulting corporation will be operating under the new name “NTG Consultants” doing business as National Trusted Group.
