Michael Camilleri is the President and Founder of Matrix Consulting, LLC. Mr. Camilleri has previously served as co-owner of Preferred Insurance Capital Consultants, LLC, an actuarial/litigation Support and insurance management consulting services. He has had numerous positions as a principal and/or President & CEO of a number of insurance companies, including Clear Spring Property and Casualty Company, American Financial Security Life Insurance Company, USA Title Insurance Holdings, LLC, First Commercial Insurance Holdings Group, Newport Star Reinsurance Company and Accident Insurance Company. Mr. Camilleri also served as Senior Vice President of Insurance Service Office, Inc. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Camilleri was President of Insurance Data Resources, Inc. (IDR) and IDR Statistical Services, Inc. (IDRSS), national workers compensation rating organizations.
Prior to joining IDR in 1996, Mr. Camilleri was a senior partner with the insurance regulatory and health practices for Adorno & Zeder, P.A., a leading Florida law firm with offices in Miami, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Boca Raton, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Washington, DC; and New York, NY.
From 1978 to 1991, Mr. Camilleri was with the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. (NCCI), where he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. At NCCI, Mr. Camilleri directed the Legal, National Affairs, Public Affairs and Residual Markets divisions. During his career with NCCI, he managed countrywide workers compensation assigned risk plans and reinsurance pools, established a prototype National Affairs Department, managed all internal and external affairs, provided oversight on multi-state and federal issues including testimony before U.S. Congress, and served as Secretary to the Board of Directors.
He is an author of texts and articles on insurance and health care issues and is a widely-sought speaker at national conferences. Some of his achievements include: Who’s Who in American Law; Who’s Who in Practicing Attorneys; chairing the American Bar Association Workers Compensation Committee; and Chairman of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Workers Compensation Advisory Committee. He has assisted in the drafting of insurance and healthcare legislation in several states, including New York, California, Illinois, Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
Mr. Camilleri received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Island University and his Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School. He is a member of the New York, District of Columbia and federal bars.
